Featured Station: Smooth Jazz by Mr. Radio

Smooth Jazz by Mr. Radio was created back in March 2011 to open a new portal to the sounds of Smooth Jazz. Before Smooth Jazz, the Dallas/Fort Worth got it’s fill of cool sounds from a terrestrial station called “The Oasis”. Sadly, the parent company decided to change its programming and left the listening community empty handed.

At this time, Mr. Radio decided to start his own radio station help keep smooth jazz alive to listeners in the area.

The music heard on “Smooth Jazz by Mr. Radio” is taken from Mr. Radio’s personal collection of music; Artists such as Pieces Of A Dream, Kim Waters, Ronny Jordan, Lee Ritenour, and Candy Dulfer are just some of the many well know musicians that are played on the station. In addition, Mr. Radio has found a number of new and upcoming artists who he believes are on the way to stardom.

Mr. Radio takes great pride in his music and even attributes his stage name to the song “Mr. Radio” by Soulride. “The selection process for songs that are played is based on my feeling when I hear the song for the first time. In a lot of cases, it does not take more than a minute to feel the vibe of the songs. Many artists portray certain musical techniques in their music such as syncopation (Jeff Lorber) catch my eye quickly along with the crafty ways each artist wraps their own touch to the songs they produce”.

Since March of this year, Mr. Radio’s journey as a new broadcaster on the internet has truly been packed with many enjoyable moments. “The numerous comments I get from the listeners is exciting and inspiring. It has been even more surprising to be contacted by artists about getting me to listen to their music and consider playing their music on the station.” One of the artists, Sylvia Bennett, happened to be a Grammy Award nominee!

Mr. Radio is passionate about his station, and continues to grow his audience. “Smooth Jazz with Mr. Radio gives the artists the chance to get more exposure and I as a broadcaster to have the confidence that I do select good music for one’s ears”.
